Differencia from DayTime Software (http://daytimesoftware.com/) is rather unusual product. Functionality of Differencia is different from other comparison applications. If you need to compare text files, binary or source code or compare directories this program is not yours. The main feature of Differencia (and quite rare in other similar applications) is comparison data in flat file format, for example tabular data from Excel, CSV, SQL databases etc. from Windows, Linux and Mac applications.

As you can see interface of the program is very simply – you just need to open files for comparison and choose what field (layout) compare.
To make it easier you can use templates from online template database (http://daytimesoftware.com/shop/gbu0-catshow/difftempl.html) with already configures file formats for most popular programs. Now there are templates for Address Book & Contact information for such popular mail programs as: Eudora Address Book, Thunderbird Address Book, Yahoo! Contacts, Outlook contacts. The database is not big yet but developers currently working on adding new templates. You can also create your own templates from Differencia: please select a Comparison or Layout in the main window and choose “File”, then “Export”. Saved template can be used for own need or if you would like to share it between other users can be uploaded to online database.
Other necessary for comparison programs features such as: highlighting of diff, focusing on differences and of course reviewing comparison results are present as well as in other comparison tools, so I think it’s not required to describe them more deeper.
But seen is believing, so if some of these features a required for you in work or other needs to try a free 45 day trial version of the program and take a look it by yourself. But unfortunately only Mac users can do it. Current version of Differencia is available on Mac OS X only.
I wish developers well and further development of such wonderful product. I hope in the feature it will be ported to other platforms and go a long way by Windows and Linux users.
